Privatization of the Canteen Operation: DOC is close to soliciting bids for the privatization of the facility canteen operations. If the DOC decides to select a vendor and go through with privatization, the current canteen employees will be offered other vacancies. As I travel around in the field, I have been asked about this topic. The DOC is soliciting bid information in an effort to determine if privatization of the canteen will provide additional revenue for the agency, not in an effort to remove jobs. If you are interested in following this legislation, it’s HB 3342. Our turnout was fantastic, with well over 60 people visiting with legislators about our top priorities! In a year when the budget situation is so dire, most groups have meager turnouts for their lobby days simply because they know there is no chance of getting a pay raise. But OCP is about more than just pay raises, and yesterday our members had good, honest conversations with our elected officials about who OCP is and our ideas for improving the public safety in Oklahoma. After meeting with legislators all around the building, we met up Last Updated (Monday, 26 April 2010 20:14) OCP Day at the Capitol - Last Minute DetailsHello OCP Members!
This is your final email reminder that the OCP Day at the Capitol is this Wednesday, March 31st. We’ve gotten a great response from you all so far, but we still need many more members to attend! The facilities listed below have already had members RSVP. If you don’t see yours on the list, it’s not too late to round up some friends and make the trip to ensure the issues facing you and your co-workers are heard!
Last Updated (Thursday, 01 April 2010 10:51) OCP Day at the Capitol 3/31/10Are You Ready? Mark your calendars. Ask your family, friends, and co-workers to attend. On March 31st, OCP will have its first ever Day at the Capitol. It's like they say, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." Let's make OCP's first impression HUGE! What better time is there? - PPB employees have been furloughing since last August
- DOC employees narrowly avoided the same fate for FY10, but will most certainly face some level of furloughs in FY11
- Several of our fellow DOC employees have lost their jobs due to the dire budget situation, and more personnel cuts are certain to come in FY11
March 31st is your opportunity to show the folks at the Capitol that OCP members are paying attention. If we show up in force on the 31st, they will not forget us! Last Updated (Thursday, 01 April 2010 10:51) |
