OCP News - December 1, 2009

Man, what a rush the last few days have been. We wanted to come to you with an update of where we stand now and what the next few days hold. As you know we reached and passed the 2,000 member mark. Our organization is off and running and jumping hurdles as fast as they come up. Let me tell you there have been several hurdles to be jumped. As a recap of the last few days; here are but just a few...

First, and probably most important. We learned that our retirees members cannot be on the membership roster nor even a category called retiree members in our by-laws. In order to pass the payroll deduction hurdle we must remove all membership opportunities except for active state employees. This is a blow in that our retiree members are extremely important to us and the future of our association. Their knowledge and proven dedication was central to many of our plans. We will strive to overcome this obstacle but for the immediate future we must remove this membership option.

Appreciation Events

In conjunction with OCEMF, Appreciation [Events] will be making available huge discounts of up to 90% off local family fun centers, sporting events, movie theaters, golf courses, spas & salons, and much more for employees and their family members.  Appreciation [Events] has negotiated these discounts with local and national businesses so that we are able to pass them on to our employees with absolutely no cost to the foundation.

There are forty plus certificates that employees can utilize themselves or purchase for gifts.  The certificates are all designed to be risk free, as well as all come with a 100% money back guarantee.  The best part about this is that Appreciation [Events] donates 20% of the net sales back to the memorial foundation; therefore creating a win-win situation.  Employees are able to save hundreds of real dollars at places they already visit, while a generous portion of the proceeds benefits the OCEMF.

Something Amazing

Hang on to your hat everybody, and move over just a bit so I can sit down and tell you something amazing. Oklahoma Corrections Professionals membership has broken through the 2000 member mark and is actually over the top. It is absolutely amazing... Oklahoma Corrections Professionals is now, finally, an organization that qualifies for payroll deduction of member dues. We have attained a membership of over two thousand and, despite the odds, have proven finally that we can be the largest representative of Oklahoma Corrections Employees in the state. We have done it, you have done it. We knew we could do it all along. No matter the road blocks thrown by naysayers the deed was gonna get done.

OCP News - September 5, 2009

Thanks to everybody who took part in the campaign but,

Sadly we did not achieve in August...

Although we did not achieve the initial goal of 2,000 in the month of August the campaign was a huge success and OCP is in no way disheartened.  In all, OCP gained 147 new members with more than 33 existing members taking part in the drawing.  But with 160 DOC employees leaving the department in August and 44 of those having been OCP members the loss was too much to overcome.  The winners of the drawings and contest were;
